MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide a 24-hour operation to reduce the loss of life and property and to protect the environment. The highest priority is to protect Wilson County residents from all hazards by providing and coordinating resources, expertise, leadership and advocacy through a comprehensive, risk-based emergency preparedness program of mitigiation, preparedness, response and recovery.
Wilson County Emergency Management maintains the Emergency Operations Center located in the Law Enforcement Center at 925 Pierce St, Fredonia Ks. Emergency management is the process of coordinating available resources to deal with emergencies effectively, thereby saving lives, avoiding injury and minimizing economic loss. This protection process involves four phases:

Preparation -- Writing plans, identifying resources, negotiating agreements, training and exercising plans and resources.
Response -- Mobilization of forces using the resources available to stabilize a situation.
Recovery -- Immediate and long-term efforts to help the community return to near normal conditions again.
